2 Eagles Fall to #3 Walker Valley
The Eagles season came to a devastating end on Tuesday evening vs. the Walker Valley Mustangs. While the Eagles played hard and controlled much of the pace of the game and shots, they were unfortunately unable to capitalize on any of their shots. The halftime score saw a score of 0-0, with amazing efforts of goalie, Sam Rasnake, and defensive backs, Levi Toliver and Elijah Norman, diving into the goal line to prevent the Mustangs from scoring in the first half. The second half saw the Mustangs score 2 goals within the first 15 minutes, which was tough to battle back from, and the referees let 2 hard fouls inside of the 18 box slide with no PK’s, but the Eagles put up a fight. They continued to dominate the game, controlling possession and shots on the net, but were unable to find the back of the net to put themselves on the board, final loss 0-2.
This ended the Eagles season in a heartbreaking manner, but with hope for the future of sophomores that dominated on the starting Varsity squad moving forward.
Cleveland High School defeated Walker Valley 4–0 to win the District Championship on May 8, 2026, on their home field. Rhea County had 6 athletes voted in to win awards presented after the championship game.
*1st team All-District- Elijah Norman, Geo Pacheco, and Emi Sanchez;
