Tommy Thurman Obituary

August 25, 1940 ~ February 25, 2025 

Mr. Tommy Thurman, 84, of Dayton, TN passed away at his residence while surrounded by his family February 25, 2025. He was born to the late Quentin and Jessie Yother Thurman on August 25, 1940, in Dayton, TN. Tommy worked twenty-six years for La-Z-Boy and attended the Corvin Road Baptist Church. He was a man who loved his wife and never missed an opportunity to spoil his grandchildren. He loved riding horses, reading and watching westerns. Tommy was kindhearted; unable to say no to anyone.

Mr. Thurman is preceded in death by his parents and sister, Eva Kay Sinclair.

Tommy left behind his loving wife of thirty-five years, Patricia Sue Meador Thurman; children, Stacy (Ken) Sharp, Stoni (Tommy) Riley, Lisa (Derry) Chalker, Tom (Tonya) Thurman, Peggy (Wade) Yawn, Christina (Paul) Baily, and Charlene Cochran; sixteen grandchildren, thirty great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren; one niece, Donna Sinclair and one nephew, Kerry Sinclair.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to Paige Jewell, Keri Wilkey and Vickie Howard of the Hearth Hospice for the loving care they gave.

The funeral will be held in the chapel of Coulter-Garrison Funeral Home Saturday, March 1, 2025, at 2PM with Bro. Steve James officiating. The family will receive friends from noon until service time. Interment will follow the service at Spivey Cemetery.
