Spring City Elementary Holds Parade for Jacob Before His Trip to Disney World
Spring City, TN 2/16/24 -- For a child diagnosed with a critical illness, a wish come true can be a crucial turning point in their lives. A granted wish can be the spark that helps a child believe anything is possible and can give them the strength to fight harder against their illness. Jacob Schumacher, a first-grader in the CDC room at SCES, was granted such a wish and will soon be heading to Disney. Diagnosed with Cystic Fibrosis at birth, Jacob has faced many challenges over the years, but with the help of his dedicated parents and a great group of doctors, Jacob is living his best life.
At Jacob’s yearly check-up, his parents received some exciting news: Jacob and his family had qualified for the Make-A-Wish program. Make-A-Wish is an international organization that fulfills the wishes of critically ill children. As you can imagine, Jacob and his family were ecstatic! One out of every two wishes granted in the U.S. has been a Disney wish trip. Jacob and his family are following the footsteps of thousands of others and have chosen to spend their magical wish at Disney World in Orlando, Florida!
Spring City Elementary School is a special place; education is a high priority, but love and kindness fill the hallways. Once the administration and staff got wind of the news, they knew something had to be done. As a send-off, Mr. Cook and Mrs .Fitzgerald organized a hallway parade. The students dressed in their Disney best to show their support. Jacob and his family were escorted by Make-A-Wish representatives and classmates throughout the cheering crowds of supportive Bull Pup peers!
