Rhea County High School Softball honors seniors before White County loss

Evensville, TN -- On senior night for RCHS softball, six seniors were honored. Ellie Hickman, McKinley Mathis, Hallie DeArman, Macy Welch, Halleigh Phelps and Madalynn Ray celebrated their senior night with parents, coaches and friends in attendance. White County came away with the 7-4 win on the night.
These six seniors have laced em up many times over the last 14 years on numerous fields around the area and beyond. A very talented crew that still have some softball to play this year and beyond as they will continue their careers are several places next year. Always a bittersweet moment for these young ladies as they look back on their careers at Rhea County, Spring City, Rhea Middle and many other teams over the years.
Listed among their accomplishments were not only athletic prowess in multiple sports, including basketball, soccer and track and field, were selection to Rhea County High School academic champions with several in the top 10 of their class. There was participation in the Distinguished Young Woman Program, Girls State and other community projects that were not listed.
They listed some of their favorite memories and seems Cookeville High School softball losing to Eagles was high on the list of favorites, as well as home runs and just funny stories involving teammates. They all will some day look back and remember the fun times and even sad times even more than their accomplishments which are numberous. And moms, dads, coaches and fans will once again see how quickly these girls have grown into young women who will continue on their life's journey.
Most of these young ladies will again be continuing in athletics and acaddemics next year at local colleges and all six are planning on attending college next year. The career pathes listed include physical therapy, nuclear radiology, occupational therapy, nursing and political science.
And before they know it, they may be fans, mothers, sisters, and maybe even coaches back her on these same softball field in the future.
