Robert Lawson Ellis (Bob) passed away on April 13, 2025, at his home in Spring City, Tennessee. He was 73 years old.
Bob was a member of Heritage Independent Baptist Church. He was a loving husband to his wife, Wilma Ellis, and a devoted Papa to his grands. He moved to Spring City in 2000 after his retirement from GM. He worked as a bus driver for Rhea County Schools and for Telamon Corporation. Bob was a Sunday school teacher and also enjoyed driving the church van. He had a passion for the outdoors and especially loved spending time on the water. He loved to mow and spend time with his great-grandchildren. Bob was known for his adventurous spirit, his unwavering faith as a Godly man, and his love for his church.
He was preceded in death by his father, Sam Ellis; mother, Mary Cathrine Ellis; and sister, Sandra K. Ellis.
Bob is survived by his wife, Wilma Ellis; daughter, Barbie Smith (Jamie Weber); niece, Nikki Eisenminger; nephew, Ryan Eisenminger; grandchildren, Miranda Dodd (Zachary) and Gracie (Travis) Bustos; and great-grandchildren, Colt Dodd and Karter Clark.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, April 17, from 12:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. at Heritage Independent Baptist Church in Spring City, Tennessee. A funeral service will follow at 2:00 p.m. at the church, with burial in the Friendship Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Friendship Cemetery in Bob’s memory.
