Eagles Varsity and Junior Varsity Both Stand at 4-0 on Season After Wins vs Cleveland
3/21/24 Evensville, TN -- RMS Eagles boys’ soccer swept across the board on Thursday night, March 20th, vs. the Cleveland Raiders at home field advantage. JV started the evening off, going toe-to-toe in the first half, with a narrow miss from goalkeeper Sam Rasnake, giving the Raiders the 1-0 lead at halftime. The Eagles came out during the second half to even out the score with a first goal from Excar Vazquez-Diaz followed closely by a second goal off a direct kick from Sawyer Prudhomme. Adrian Juan held off the Raiders offensive attacks to even out the score in the second half, and the JV proudly carried out the win of 2-1, making their record 4-0.
Varsity action came next with the Eagles starting off strong with several drives offensively up the field to keep the Cleveland keeper constantly on edge. Gio Pacheco managed to win a ball and drive it down the field, burying it in the back of the net, giving the Eagles the lead 1-0, which they held at halftime. The second half again saw several Eagles’ offensive attacks from Ian Arnold and Pacheco with help from great midfield distribution, but the Cleveland keeper managed to make several saves to keep both the Raiders’ and Eagles’ fans excitedly involved in the game with cheers. The Raiders kept trying to tie up the score, with a last minute drive in the game but fell short due to stellar defensive pressure from the Eagles and Ethan Nelson’s stop in net. The Eagles carried the victory of 1-0 and increased their record to 4-0 for the season.
Gio Pacheco had this to say following the game, “It was a good win against Cleveland. The team played well, and that just proves we’re going to come for the championship!”
