Rhea Middle Wins 2-1 Over Ocoee Middle on PKs on OT, JV Also Wins
Cleveland, TN -- RMS Eagles faced off again vs. the Ocoee Colts in the first game since spring break on Tuesday, March 19th. The Eagles traveled to the beautiful complex in Ocoee and battled it out on the turf for a 0-0 tie at the end of regulation time. Both teams came close to scoring a few times but the Colts’ and Eagles’ keepers made sure to work relentlessly to keep the ball out of their nets. After regulation time, the referees decided to go straight into penalty kicks, so Ocoee lead the sequence of shots, best of 5 shots would determine the winner. Anderson Cathey and Gio Pacheco buried their shots in the back of the net, giving the Eagles the edge. Ethan Nelson, in goal, had 2 shots go wide on him, 1 finding the back of the net, but had 2 diving blocks of shots from the Colts, which included the Colts’ 5th kick, so that the Eagles won 2-1 without having to take their last PK shot. The Eagles record went to 3-0. JV played immediately afterwards and ensured another victory for the Eagles with a 2-1 victory. Brohdi Gilmore and Excar Vazquez-Diaz found the back of the net for the Eagles with Sam Rasnake and Adrian Juan holding down the goal, keeping the pace of 3-0 record for JV as well. Sawyer Campbell had this to say, “We played well all around the field. There were a few shots we should’ve put away and a few balls we shouldn’t have let through our defense, but in the end we couldn’t have won without our keepers.” The Eagles will face off at home this Thursday, March 21st, vs. Cleveland: JV at 4:30pm and V at 6pm.
