Rita Evelyn (May) Jordan, age 67, of Dayton, Tennessee, passed away peacefully on January 15, 2025. She was born on May 6, 1957, in Dayton, where she lived her entire life. Rita was the loving wife of Rick Jordan for 50 years and a devoted mother to her son, Richard Jordan (Christina). She cherished her role as a grandmother to Bradley Jordan and Sara Jordan Brady, and great-grandmother to Kinley Brady and Miya Brady.
Rita was preceded in death by her parents, Raymond "Pete" May and Celia Morgan May, and siblings: Dorothy May, Rosemary Yearwood, Raymond May Jr., Roy May, Roger May, and Ronald May. She is survived by her beloved husband, son, sisters: Helen Caraway, Ruby Burchard, Dena Burchard, Reba Dotson, Ruth Ann Gentry, Annette Parks, Karen May, and Becky Sparks, as well as several nieces and nephews who will deeply miss her presence.
A woman of warmth, Rita was known for her outgoing personality and her love for life. She was a longtime member of Cranmore Cove Baptist Church, where she found community and spiritual fulfillment. Rita was passionate about Tennessee football and enjoyed spending her time sewing, working on puzzles, and embracing the outdoors—especially in the company of her great-grandchildren, who brought her immense joy in recent years.
A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, January 21, 2025, at 3:00 PM in the chapel of Coulter Garrison Funeral Home with Pastor Steve Reid and Pastor Bob Schafer officiating. The family will receive friends from 12:00 PM until the time of the service, burial will follow in the Burchard Cemetery.
Rita will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. Her legacy of kindness, joy, and love will forever live on in the hearts of her family and friend
