Rhea Wins Championship At Happy Valley Holiday Classic

Rhea County Defeats Elizabethton 62-51 behind 28 points from Braylon Geer

Elizabethton, TN -- Rhea County finished off the Happy Valley Holiday Classic Tournament Finals with a 62-51 win over Elizabethton to finish unbeaten in the tournament and secure the Championship. Eagles jumped on top 10-0 in first 4minutes of minute of play. At 3:30 mark, Cyclone dented the scoring column for 10-2 Eagles lead. Teams played even the rest of quartrer for a 17-9 Rhea County lead. Geer led the Eagles with 9 first quarter points. Eagles pushed the lead to 22-9 in first 3 minutes of the secocnd quarter on their way to 27-13 halftime lead.

Bryce Garrison made the corner 3 for a 32-13 lead at the 5:45 mark fo the 3rd quarter. Elizabethton finally got on the board with free throws at 5:25 mark of the quarter. Geer's 3 gave the Eagles the biggest lead of the game at 39-13 with 3:40 left in third quarter. Cyclones made a run over the last 3 minutes to cut the Rhea County lead to 12 points at end of the quarter, at 45-33.

Cyclones worked the lead down and with free throws from Zack Walland, they moved to 47-42 with 4:41 left on the 4th quarter clock. Geer buried an elbow 3 to give Eagles some breathing room at 55-42 with 1:49 left in the game. Eagles made their free throws down the stretch and won 62-51. Braylon Geer led the Eagles with 28 points and Zack Walland hit 8 threes for Cyclones and finished with 24 points. KeShawn Smith finished in double figures on rebounds and scored 8 points.
