Eagles Take Down Owls 48-0
10/11/24
Evensville, TN -- Rhea County won convincingly 48-0 over Ooltewah in Evensville on Friday, 10/11/24. The Eagles offense was unstoppable in the first quarter with 34 points by quarter's end. Included in that run were three touchdowns by Mason Ford. On the night, quarterback Caleb Carr added 3 touchdowns, two via the air and one on the ground. Kaiden Rector added a 48 yard interception return for touchdown to complete the scoring for Rhea when you add the 6 extra-point kicks by Austun Fugate. On defense, the Eagles shutdown the offense of the Owls and several of the usual strong performers showed up, including Ace Robinson, Ezekiel Romero and Zander Yeager. With the win, the Eagles record goes to 4-3 overall and 2-1 in district play. They are one of 4 teams with 1 loss in Region5A-4. Due to the fact the Howard Tech game cancelled earlier this year will not be played, the tiebreakers will be a little different. Good news, is Eagles are in the playoffs and with wins against Tyner and East Hamilton, they should be looking at a # 2 seed for postseason. Eagles do not play this coming Friday, 10/18/24 and will face Tyner Academy at home on 10/25/24 and then play East Hamilton at home on 11/1/24.
Caleb Carr had a very efficient game with 9 for 11 for 138 yards. Aiden Wilkerson and Austun Fugate each had 59 yards receiving and a touchdown. The Eagles only had 2 punts on the night for 66 yards and the Owls had 5 punts for 173 yards. The Eagles had 12 first downs to 4 for the Owls. Not a ton of penalties on the night with Eagles having 4 for 20 yards and Owls having 7 for 45 yards. First down efficiency was good for Rhea with 5 of 7 3rd downs made, while Owls made 2 of 10 third downs and were 0 for 2 on 4th down tries..
