RCHS Tennis Beats Hixson 6-3

Hixson, TN -- Rhea County won on the Road at Hixson High School on Tuesday 6-3 to push their season record to 2-2. Eagles lost their Monday match at home vs Meigs County 5-4. Playing for Eagles were #1-#6, Brett Hurst, Zac Swafford, Garrett Hurst, Hank Logsdon, James Smith and David Derlak. Also playing were Jesse Fisher and Ben Garrison. Eagles won all but one match in singles and that loss was due to forfeit. Interestingly the Eagles lost 2 of the three doubles matches to account for the 6-3 final. Zac Swafford and Hank Lodsdon were perfect on the day with wins in singles and doubles. Also picking up win for Eagles were Brett Hurst, Zac Swafford, James Smith and David Derlak in singles.

On Monday, Meigs County came to Dayton and won a close 5-4 decision over the Eagles. Eagles and Meigs split the six singles matches with Eagles picking up wins by # 1 Brett Hurst, # 2 Zac Swafford and # Garrett Hurst. Eagles could only salvage one of the doubles matches to account for the final 5-4 score in favor of Meigs County. Both losing matches were 8-5 scores.
