Rhea Begins Road Trip With Loudon Win

Rhea Wins 28-7 Over Loudon, Back on the Road For 2 More Games

Loudon, TN - 10/17/25 -- Loudon received opening kickoff and Tristyan Odum made nice tackle on 3rd down play to put Redskins in a 4th down punt, which rolled dead at the 38 yard-line of Rhea County.

Eagles earned a couple of first downs to move near midfield. Loudon's defense stiffened, forcing a punt by Fugate, that was caught at the 15 yard-line. The Redskins broke a couple of big plays to move the ball past midfield with Russell gaining 25 yards on the ground. Evans and Yearwood combined on a tackle for loss to slow down the drive and two passes were off course and Loudon was forced to punt on 4th and 14. The punt went out of bounds at the 30 yard-line of the Eagles. Mason Ford needed only one carry to put the Eagles on the board with 70-yard touchdown run. Fugate added the extra point kick for 7-0 lead with 4:38 left in quarter.

Loudon brought the kickoff back to the 28 yard-line. After a 3-and-out series, Loudon punted to Aiden Wilkerson, who brought the kick back to the Loudon 37 yard-line. Schmitt showed off his running ability, taking the tall down to the 20 yard-line of Loudon, before throwing the 20-yard touchdown pass to Wilkerson with 1:55 left in quarter.

Loudon began series # 3 at their 20 after kick found the endzone. Loudon picked up a first down at the 30, but 3 plays later they were facing a 4th and 4, and decided to punt and Wilkerson fair-caught at the Eagles' 33 yard-line. Mason Ford picked up a first at the 43 yard-line and a nice gain by Wilkerson was wiped out by penalty putting Eagles in 1st and 21 situations. Loudon's defense put the Eagles in 3rd and 21 situations, but Schmitt found Wilkerson, who hit a speed burst to outdistance the defenses to the perfectly thrown pass by Schmitt and scampered into the endzone with the touchdown reception with 7:24 left in second quarter. Fugate added the kick for 21-0 lead.

Loudon brought the kickoff up to the 32 yard-line to begin their possession. Russell had long run up the gut to the 49 yard-line. Bassett found Johnson for long pass down to the 20 of the Eagles. Later in drive, Bassett found Kelch for gain down to the 14. Eagles defense put up a stand and took over on the 14 yard-line with 4:24 left in 3rd quarter.

Eagles were forced to punt after a 3 and out with 2:10 left on clock. Good coverage by Eagles started the Redskins at their own 40 yard-line. Loudon moved the ball past midfield with some good running and then benefited from a pass interference penalty to move the ball to the Eagles' 30 yard-line. Eagle Rose sacked the quarterback to push the Redskins back to the 36. Bassett then looked to go long, but Austun Fugate intercepted the overthrow and raced up field for an apparent touchdown, that was negated by a penalty, which placed the ball at the Eagles' 41 yard-line. Eagles ran a couple of plays before halftime horn.

Fans were treated to a very good performance by Loudon and Rhea County Bands.

Eagles received the kickoff and began possession at the 20 yard-line on the touchback kick. Loudon's had backed the Eagles up to their 10, but Jaxton Schmitt used his feet for a 50-yard gain as saw an opening and went for it, gaining up to the 40 yard-line of Loudon. Mason Ford ran the ball four consecutive times, the last covering 26 yards for the touchdown for Eagles. Austun Fugate's kick pushed the lead to 28-0 for Eagles with 8:25 left in 3rd quarter.

Loudon returned the kickoff to their 20 yard-line. Panthers rode the legs of Russell, who moved the ball near midfield with good running. Eagles' defense came up with some big stops forcing a 4th down try, which was unsuccessful, turning the ball over to Rhea County at the Rhea County 32 yard-line. Loudon's defense forced a 3-and-out and Fugate's punt and the Eagles' punt coverage was good, and Loudon began their possession at the Rhea County 5 yard-line as 3rd quarter ended.

Russell had a couple long runs to move Loudon pas the midfield stripe. Next the Redskin quarterback Bassett showed off his legs with a couple of first down plays. Tristyan Odom had a nice tackle for loss on Russel at the 24 yard-line, but Bassett earned another first down to the 10 and then Russell carried for the 10-yard touchdown run with 2:11 left in the game. The kick was good and scored stood at 28-7.

Donegan had nice kickoff return all the way to the Loudon 30. Eagles ran out the clock and took the 28-7 win and headed home.

Offensive stars of the game included Mason Ford with 15 carries for 134 yards and 2 touchdowns, Jaxton Schmitt with 106 yards passing on 5/10 and 71 yards on 5 carries as well as 2 touchdowns scored. Aiden Wilkerson had 4 nice catches for 103 yards and 2 touchdowns. Defensively, Eagles were led by Zeke Romero, with 13 total tackles(10 solo), Eagle Rose with 9 tackles(8 solo), Wyatt Magnefride with 12 tackles(8 solo) and Tristyan with 10 tackles(6 solo). Rose and Odum each had a tackle for loss and Odum had 2 pass breakups. Eagle Rose also had a sack for the night.

For the Season, Mason Ford has passed the 1,000-yard mark with 1103 yards with 12 touchdowns. Jaxton Schmitt has passed 1,000-yard combined yards with 737 passing and 390 rushing for 1,127 yards and has accounted for 13 touchdowns with only 2 interceptions for the season. Wilkerson has accounted for 14 touchdowns from the line of scrimmage and over 500 yards combined passing and rushing with 519 yards. Austin Fugate leads the team with 5 interceptions for the year. Wyatt Mangefrida led the team with 79.5 tackles on the year and Zeke Romero and L.T. Donegan have 60 and 51 overall tackles.
