5/29/25 -- Dayton, TN
Rex and the Ramblers will kick off Nokian Tyres Summer Nights seventh-annual concert
series on June 6. The East Tennessee trio consists of three brothers, Rex, Billy A., and
Joe King. They play a limited number of engagements each year, sharing their soulful,
rockin’, country, funky blues sound with a loyal following.
The show starts at 6:30 p.m. on the Rhea County Courthouse lawn, and food trucks will
be available. Bring your chairs and blankets and enjoy the opening of the seventh
annual Nokian Tyres Summer Nights concert series.
The King Brothers grew up in a small, poverty-stricken town in the Deep South, where
dirt roads and weathered front porches told stories of struggle and survival.
Raised in a ramshackle house with no running water and a radio that crackled with the
sounds of Hank Williams, Carl Perkins and early rhythm & blues artists from Memphis to
New Orleans, this music became their escape.
From a young age, the brothers would play music under the stars, using borrowed
guitars and even a washtub bass that Billy A built himself.
Rex and the Ramblers sound blends the raw grit of Southern Blues, Rockabilly and the
classic Country and Western creating a unique style that would be uniquely known as
Blues-A-Billy.
As teenagers they played honky tonks, juke joints and Mexican restaurants earning a
loyal following across the East Tennessee region they call home.
Despite their humble beginnings, Rex and the Ramblers’ infectious energy, sharp song
selection and authentic southern storytelling helped them become known as a group
everyone needs to enjoy in person if they get the chance.
Though their journey started in hardship, their music and their connection to those who
love their style keeps them energized.
Rex and the Ramblers only play a handful of public appearances in any given year…so
don’t miss the chance to enjoy them at Summer Nights June 6.
