Rev. Alan Neal Winkler, age 96 of Mt. Juliet and formerly of Dayton, passed away at Carrick Glen Senior Living on Sunday, October 20, 2024. He was born in Chattanooga on August 2, 1928, the son of the late L.B. Winkler and Viola (Jones) Winkler. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Hilda Marie (Holt) Winkler in 2019; his brothers, Ted Winkler and Tim Winkler; and his son-in-law, Owen Egeberg.
Alan lived in Dayton from 1965 until 2011 when he and his wife moved to Mt. Juliet. He was a Class of 1960 graduate of Bryan College, received a Th.M. degree from Dallas Theological Seminary, was a much-loved Bible professor at Bryan College for 28 years, and was also the pastor of Ogden Road Baptist Church on Dayton Mountain for 36 years. For many years he enjoyed refinishing antiques.
Alan is survived by his daughters, Connie (Tim) Slocum of Mt. Juliet and Annette Egeberg of Scottsburg, Indiana; his brother, Dennis Winkler of Germany; and his sister, Patricia Craft of Alabama.
Funeral services for Alan will be at Ogden Road Baptist Church on Sunday, October 27, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Jim Woychuk officiating. He will be laid to rest next to his wife at Ogden Road Baptist Church Cemetery on Dayton Mountain.
