Regina Sneed Begins 10th Season Overall; 2024 Team Brings More Experience to the Court

Evensville, TN -- Regina (Reed) Sneed, begins her fifth season as coach of Rhea Middle is from Rhea County. She currently works at Rhea Middle School as attendance secretary. Assisting Gina will be Amanda Shelton. Gina played tennis all through high school. Regina attended Rhea County High School and graduated in 2011. She earned an associate degree in education from Chattanooga state. Sneed started as the assistant coach under Andrea Watson from 2015-2020. She stepped up to the position as head coach during the 2020-2021 season and this will be her fifth season as head coach.  

Returning players for Rhea Middle are Billy Sheddan, Logan and Easton Kinney, Braxton Reed all returning from last year. AJ Shaver returns after taking a year. For the girls team Lakyn Geer, Daisy Smith, Lila Reel return, and all have made major improvements over the off-season. 

Regina responded to question about this year's team and key game.

"We were very inexperienced. Last year, we had the majority of our players playing for the first time and they started off nervous, which caused numerous problems on the courts. This season we have players that are more experienced, and they offer wisdom and guidance to the new players."

"Key game for this season is definitely Spring City Middle School. We are excited to welcome them to our tennis family as this will be their very first season having their own tennis team. Yes, we are "opposing teams" but in the end hopefully our two teams will merge together when they move on to RCHS Tennis." 

Gina played for the tennis coach legend Lil Andrews. Andrews has been a tennis coach at Rhea county for over 20 years. Gina said,  "I played tennis all through high school under the amazing coach Lil Andrews."
