Eagles Run Record to 5-2-1
Saturday, March 30th -- Maryville, TN -- was a beautiful, blustery day for the Eagles to travel to William Blount for a noon game. The Eagles pulled from the bench, with 4 of their primary players injured and sitting out. The action was tense throughout the first half, with physicality being present on both ends, with 1 yellow being given to the Eagles as both teams battled for a 0-0 halftime score. The second half finally saw the Eagles find the back of the Governors’ net from Steven Henriquez off a Luke Parker throw-in within the first two minutes. The physicality reached a peak just a few minutes later with 1 red card and 3 yellows being given out to the Governor’s players and coach, while 1 red card and 2 yellows were given out to the Eagle’s players. Both teams now played a man down with 34 minutes left to play. The Governor’s were granted the drop ball after the fight was broken up, and unfortunately, a hand ball in the Eagle’s 18 box resulted in a PK shot and goal, tying the score up 1-1. The Eagles kept pressing, with another foul and yellow card being given to the Governors just a few minutes later. The Eagles capitalized and kept moving the ball forward with Trey Eldridge finishing a cross from Andrew Morgan deep in the second half. The third and final goal that sealed the nail in the coffin for the Governors was a shot from Eldridge that the goalie deflected with Morgan making the far corner run and burying the rebound in the back of the net. The Eagles won 3-1, their record at 5-2-1 for the season. The Eagles host McMinn County at home on Tuesday, April 2nd, Varsity-7pm, then travel to Walker Valley on Friday, April 5th, JV at 5:30pm; V-7pm.
