RCHS Bowling Splits With McMinn

Boys Win; Girls Win at home

Dayton, TN -- Rhea County High School Bowling team split with visiting McMinn County on Monday night at Crystal Springs Bowling Lanes in Crystal Springs. The girls won 17-10 and bosy lost by same 17-10 score. The boys' team was led by Phillip Rogers and Tanner Gaither, who both averaged over 180 on the night and ended up with 550 and 541 points for three games. Carson Gary of Mcminn bowled a 228.3 average to lead McMinn, finishing with 685 points on the night. McMinn finished with 2961 points vs 2778 for Rhea County boys.

For the girls, Becca Rogers had a high game of 208 on her way to three game total of 542. Rhea County had 2034 points against 1863 for McMinn.

Rhea County boys are returning an experienced squad and are lead by Phillip Rogers, Tanner Gaither, and C. T. Nance and others. Rhea County girls had to work hard to field a team this year and have some inexperienced players, who are improving game by game.

Steve Williams spoke through social media, "Rough night for our boys team vs. a good McMinn Co. boys team. McMinn 17 Rhea 10. Tanner Gaither lead the boys with a 209 game and Phillip Rogers with a 201."


"Our girls team starts the season with a 17-10 win. Becca Rogers had a good night with a 208 game. Our girls program is rebuilding this year with 5 first year bowlers. We are very proud of our girls team. The excitement and fun brings back memories of our prior years programs. We are looking forward to seeing this years teams compete."


RCHS bowling is off this week and returns to action on October 14th at home vs Bradley Central and entertains Signal Mountain(boys only) on Thursday, October 19th.
