Ralph Lavon Price age 87, passed away peacefully on June 24th, 2024.
Born on April 3rd, 1937 in the Wolf Creek Community. His life was a testament of faith, service, and dedication.
Ralph was the beloved husband of Sonja Ann Price for 54 years. Together they built a family, raising three children: Steve (Carmen Price), Connie (Billy Ray Keylon) , Angie Ward, and David Madewell Sr. They cherished their 8 grandchildren, Lindsay, Jennifer, David, Elise, Jessica, Leah, Cassidy, and Caleb and 18 great grandchildren.
Ralph is proceeded in death by his parents, the late William Leonard and Mattie Ruth Price, his bride, Sonja Ann Price, his great grandson, Caleb Oz Price and his brothers Bill Price and Donnie Price.
Ralph was born into a family of grocers and retail businessmen. His late father owned and operated Price and Sons Grocery. After Ralph graduated High School in 1955, he traveled to Atlanta to work for Lockheed Martin Aircraft and then to Indiana to work at Delco Remy Manufacturing. Ralph founded Rhea Farm Hams where he cured and delivered country hams all across the Tennessee Valley.
Later the Price family established the IGA Corporation in 1977 and the Piggly Wiggly Plaza in 1986, which was a cornerstone of the Spring City community. His commitment to quality service and community support made the store a trusted local institution. A lifelong member of Wolf Creek Baptist Church, Ralph served faithfully as a deacon for most of his adult life. He was deeply involved in church activities and Sunday School. His unwavering faith and dedication to his church family were evident in all he did. Ralph was known for his generosity and compassion, always willing to lend a helping hand to those in need. His kindness and integrity left a lasting impact on everyone who knew and worked for him.
Friends and family remember Ralph for his steadfast faith, work ethic, and unwavering commitment to his family.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, July 3, 2024, at 1:00 PM at Wolf Creek Baptist Church with Rev. Paul Forgey officiating. Interment will follow at Spring City Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, July 2, 2024, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Wolf Creek Baptist Church.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to the Oz Fund at Wolf Creek Baptist Church, 5225 Wolf Creek Road, Spring City, TN, 37381. Started in memory of Ralph’s great grandson, Caleb Oz Price, this fund updates the Family Life Center to minister to children in the community.
Ralph Price’s legacy of faith, love, and service will continue to inspire all who loved him. He will be deeply missed but forever remembered.
