Oleta Dyer Dowden, age 91, of Graysville, Tennessee, passed away peacefully at her home on September 9, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on August 6, 1934, in Greenbrier, Kentucky, to the late Cicero and Maggie Dyer.
Oleeta was a devoted homemaker and a woman of strong Baptist faith. She lived most of her life in the Graysville area, where she was known and loved by many. Independent and strong-willed, she was the heart of the family—the one who held everyone together through life’s ups and downs. Her strength, love, and presence will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her children, Raymond Iles and Wilma Crawley; husband, Delmar Iles; her sisters, Ruby Meadows and Edith Pedigo; her brothers, Ralph, Denzel, Everet, Raymond, and Norman Dyer; and her grandchildren, Michael Iles, Danny Iles, David Wampler, Chucky Iles, and Renee Morgan Jones.
She is survived by her children: Darlene (James) Morgan, Betsy Burchard, Karen Love, Susan (James) Linger, and Scott (Rhonda) Iles; as well as a brother Kenneth Dyer and a beloved daughter-in-law, Judy Iles. Oleeta leaves behind a legacy of love through her 15 grandchildren, 46 great-grandchildren, and many great-great-grandchildren. She is also fondly remembered by several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, September 12, 2025,AT 3:00 pm in the chapel with Bro Rusty Revis officiating. The family will receive friends from 12:00 PM until the time of service.
Burial will be in the Spivey Cemetery.
