August 13, 1938 ~ February 6, 2024 (age 85)
Leona Irene (Snider) Taylor, 85, of Dayton Mountain went home to be with her Lord and Savior Tuesday afternoon, February 6, 2024. She was born in Pikeville, TN on August 13, 1938, the daughter of the late John and Lela Snider, and was a lifelong resident of Dayton mountain.
She was preceded in death by her husband Robert S. Taylor, and her son Robert L. (Bobby) Taylor; four sisters, Stella (Irvin) Steinsdoerfer, Ellen Snider, Thelma (Landon) Clark, and Wilma (Claude) Brown; one brother, Hershel (Ruth) Snider; son-in-law, Bill Matherly, and dear neighbor Becky Eller.
Leona is survived by three daughters, Velma Matherly, Kimberly (Rick) Burnette, and Rhonda Taylor; five grandchildren, Jeremy (Shelia) Taylor, Zachary (Kristina) McCool, Amanda (Jonathan) Kyle, Mindy Stephens, and Joshua (April) Burnette; twelve great-grandchildren, eight great-great grandchildren; daughter-in-law, Virginia Taylor; one sister, Lorene Jackson; a host of nieces and nephews, and special neighbors Jim and Jamie Eller and the Cornett family.
She was faithful and active in church and loved reading her Bible. She enjoyed being outdoors tending her lawn and flower gardens, and spending time with her family and friends.
The family will receive friends at Coulter Garrison Funeral Home on Friday, February 9, 2024, from 11 am until 1 pm, when the funeral service begins. It is being conducted by grandnephew Anthony Sullivan and grandson-in-law Jonathan Kyle. Interment will follow at Rigsby Cemetery in Bledsoe County. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in her memory to your favorite charity.
