October 4, 1933 - April 14, 2024

Leroy Thurman age 90 of Spring City, Tennessee died peacefully at home on Sunday, April 14, 2024.

He was born on October 4, 1933 in Spring City to the late Grover Cleveland and Bertie Ann Rice Thurman. Leroy was a graduate of Spring City High School where he excelled in sports; especially football. He enjoyed all sports and played golf in his later years. Leroy was a farmer, cattleman and businessman who worked hard his whole life. He was a loving husband, father, father-in-law and grandfather and was devoted to his family. Leroy was a member of Grandview Baptist Church. 

Leroy was also preceded in death by his wife Doris Elizabeth Thurman, brothers G.C., Carroll, Carl, and W.H. Thurman, and his sisters Mattie Davis, Gladys Wilson, and Irene Pritchard. 

Survivors include his children Randy Thurman of Spring City and Pam (Vaughn) Wilson of Murfreesboro, Tennessee; brother Clyde Thurman Sr. of Spring City; sister Betty Jo (Charles) Alley of Chattanooga; grandchildren Jake, April, Isaac, Megan and Nicole; and great grandchildren Emily, Brenna, Lakeland, Joshua, Kimber and Octavia.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, April 16, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Vaughn Funeral Home with Rev. Norman Huskey officiating. Interment with military honors will follow at Spring City Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, April 16, 2024 from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Vaughn Funeral Home.
