Larry Roddy age 73 of Dayton went to be with his Lord on Feb. 23, 2024. He was a lifelong resident of Rhea Co., and was an Attorney at Law in Dayton for many years, and was a member of the Tennessee Bar Association, and a veteran of the Vietnam War serving in the US Air Force for 6 yrs, and was a member of the Sale Creek Church of God, a graduate of Soddy Daisy High School class of 1968 where he played baseball and basketball. He received his business degree from UTC Law School at the University of Memphis where he graduated top 10 in his class. He practiced Law in Chattanooga with State Senator William H. Ortwin from 1978-2002, then came to Dayton and practiced from 2002- Jan 2024. He coached summer league baseball at Sale Creek high school from 2001-2003. He started a recovery Program in Rhea Co. for Alcohol and Drug abuse, and Thursday night support group in Soddy Daisy and a support group in Dayton called H.E.L.P, and a race car driver with his car called Holy Ghost where he gave away Bibles to young children at the race track.
Larry was preceded by his parents; father Billy Gene Roddy, Austin and Ruby June McDonald. Survivors are wife Gaynelle Goins Roddy of Dayton, TN; six children, Julie (Jason) Everett of Soddy Daisy, TN, Allison (Ben) Herd of Ten Mile, TN, Johnathan Roddy of Ooltewah, TN, Amanda (Daniel) Levi, Gabrielle Roddy, and Jasmine Thomas, all of Dayton; three brothers, Steve Roddy of Chattanooga, TN, Billy Roddy of Cleveland, TN and Cory Standifer of Sale Creek, TN; sisters, Susan (Bobby) Kean and Carol Roddy of Jasper, TN eight grandchildren, Alexander and Sara Herd, Chelsea and Brycen Levi, Khloe Roddy, Owen Johnston, and Brayden and Abbie Colburn; and one great grandson, Colte Herd; and several nieces and nephews and special nephew Hiram Goins.
