Barbara Ann Mauldin, age 86 of Dayton, passed away on February 6

Barbara Ann Mauldin, age 86 of Dayton, passed away at her home early Tuesday, February 6, 2024. She was born in Graysville on August 1, 1937, the daughter of the late Reece and Mary Elizabeth (Crawley) Francisco. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Lanny E. Mauldin.
Barbara moved back to Dayton in 1979 from Indialantic, FL. She earned her Bachelor’s degree and her Master’s degree in education from UT Knoxville. She retired from the Rhea County Department of Education after 41 years of service. She was a beloved principal at Graysville Elementary School for 15 years and was a teacher for 26 years. She was a member of the First Methodist Church in Dayton, and she was active in the United Methodist Women and served as treasurer for over 30 years. She was a member of Delta Kappa Gamma and served on the Rhea Medical Center board from 2007 to 2018.
Barbara is survived by her daughter, Melanie Garnand of Graysville; her step-daughter, Lisa (Ron) Bailey of Idaho; her two grandchildren, Cameron (Beth) Garnand of Birchwood and Holly Brown of Chattanooga; her sister, Carol Sue Kelley of Ringgold, GA; and her two sisters-in-law, Barbara Mojave and Mary Smith, both of Leesburg, FL; her five great-grandchildren; her great-great-granddaughter; and her nieces and nephews.
Funeral services for Barbara will be in the funeral home chapel on Friday, February 16, 2024, at 12:00 noon with her pastor, Rev. Layne Pennington officiating. She will be laid to rest next to her husband in Rhea Memory Gardens after the service.
