Nancy Marie Hood, age 60, of Linwood, Kansas, passed away on July 17, 2025, surrounded by love.
Nancy was born and raised in Dayton, Tennessee, and moved to Kansas 37 years ago to begin a new chapter rooted in family, faith, and service to others. For over 20 years, Nancy worked as a Certified Medication Aide, where she found deep purpose in caring for the elderly. Her work wasn’t just a job—it was a calling. She offered compassion, dignity, and warmth to every life she touched, and she was deeply respected by both patients and coworkers alike.
Nancy’s greatest legacy is the love she poured into her family, friends, and community. She was a woman of unwavering faith, proud to be a born-again Christian. Her strong spirit, compassionate heart, and joyful laugh made a lasting impact on everyone who had the gift of knowing her. Whether she was singing from the heart, sharing stories with friends, or making others feel welcome, Nancy lived her life as an example of kindness, strength, and grace.
She was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Dorthy Gentry and Charles Hickman, and her brother, Dwayne Hickman.
She is survived by her devoted husband, Larry Hood; her sons, Curtis Hickman and Christopher Hickman; her siblings, Teresa King, Vicki Gentry, and Kathy Webb; her sister-in-law, Carrie Hickman (wife of Dwayne); and many nieces, nephews, and extended family members who loved her dearly.
