Michael J. Turkasz, 70, passed away peacefully at his home in Spring City, Tennessee, on December 7, 2024.
Born on July 17, 1954, in Buffalo, New York, Mike lived a life of integrity, curiosity, and devotion to his family and passions.
Mike spent over 35 years as a Research Melting Engineer for Corning Inc., where he was respected not only for his expertise but for his dedication to innovation and mentorship.
Mike’s love for nature was profound. Whether hiking through the woods, fishing by the water, or simply enjoying the view from his porch, he found solace and joy in the outdoors. A lifelong fan of the Buffalo Bills, Mike cheered for his team with unwavering loyalty. He also shared a deep enthusiasm for sports car racing, marveling at the precision and strategy of the sport.
Above all, Mike cherished his family. He leaves behind his four children— Amy Turkasz, Rachel (Adam) Whalen, Neal (Sara) Turkasz and Alex (Ashley) Turkasz as well as six beloved grandchildren (Emily, Aura, Hudson, Mason, Ruby and Katherine) who brought pride and happiness to his life. His legacy of kindness, humor, and determination will continue to inspire all who knew him.
Mike’s family will hold a funeral on December 19, 2024 at 11am at Vaughn Funeral Home in Spring City, Tennessee.

Mike will be deeply missed and his memory will live on in the hearts of all who loved him. We're confident that he's already found the best hiking and fishing spots in Heaven.
