Michael Douglas Obituary

March 12, 1986 ~ May 23, 2025

A Rhea County High School alumni, Michael was an introspective soul with a love for learning. Whether he was reading novels, writing, or teaching himself something new, he pursued knowledge with curiosity and quiet discipline. He found peace in nature, joy in laughter, and meaning in the small moments most people overlook.

Michael was deeply kind-hearted—thoughtful, attentive, and generous with his care. He had a gift for noticing the details that mattered and making people feel seen. His humor, often expressed through witty rap lyrics—especially in playful banter with his mother—brought joy and lightness to those closest to him.

He is preceded in death by his father, Michael Douglass; his brother Matthew; grandparents Lillie Mae Douglass, Charlie Douglass, and Robbie Jean Wilkerson; great-grandmother Louella West; uncle Charles “June” Douglass, Alvin Douglass, Teresa Thomas, Sheila Smith; great aunt Katherine Logan, and late cousins Patrick “Oz” Batey, and Kellon Gillespie.

Left to cherish his memories, he is remembered by his beloved mother, Sandra Douglass; his daughter Keyashia Garmany and son Xavier; and his siblings: Dallas Sharona Holland, Derrick Howerton, Julian Taylor, Kearra Douglass, and Monica Ray.

He also leaves behind a wide circle of extended family—his aunts and uncles: Margie (Lionel) Moore, Glenda (Greg) Buckles, Willie (Brady) Springs, Ivory (Scottie) Dowdell, Lisa Douglass, Christine Pankey, Teresa Thomas, Teresa (John) Brown, Chris Douglass, Gilbert Frazier, Lafaye (John) Goddard, Belinda (Tony) Rogers, Deborah Gillespie, Dion Wilkerson, and Barry Wilkerson—as well as nieces and nephews: Chyna Howerton, Hannah Covert, Sasha Howerton, Alexus Keith, Deyshun Howerton, Royalty Nijae Douglass, and many beloved cousins and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00: PM Monday June 2, 2025, the chapel of Coulter Garrison Funeral Home, with Reverend Willie Mae Springs officiating, and scripture reading by Mark Hickman. Visitation will be held starting at 12:00 Noon until the time of service.

Pallbearers will include Tim “Melodark” Swafford, Tim Cooper, Rob Sharp, and Tyrone Cooper.

The family extends heartfelt thanks to Teresa Smith, Yvette Cooper, Angela Banks, Pastor Chip Beaulieu, and his wife Chris for their unwavering support, care, and presence
