Melvin Winifred Hall Obituary

February 22, 1937 - October 24, 2024

Melvin Winifred Hall, age 87 of Dayton, passed away at his home on Thursday, October 24, 2024. He was born in Nashville on February 22, 1937, the son of the late Elbert James Hall and Ida Elen (Jenkins) Hall. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Ruby Hall on February 18, 2024; his son, Ryan Hall; his daughter, Melody Lynn Hall; his granddaughter, Melody Lynn Hall; his great-grandson, Canon Daggett; and his eleven brothers and sisters.

Melvin lived in Dayton most of his life and was a Class of 1955 graduate of Rhea Central High School. He was employed as a machine operator at Dupont for over 30 years, served in the Army National Guard, and enjoyed farming. He was a member of Watts Bar Church of God.

Melvin is survived by his daughter, Wendy (Jeff) Daggett of Dayton; his grandchildren, Jillian (Cory) Barger of Evensville, Nathan (Hallie) Daggett, Aaron (Haley) Daggett, and Ashton (Jonathan) Cottrill, all of Dayton; his daughter-in-law, Evelyn Hall; and his great-grandchildren, Abel Daggett, Adalyn Sligh, Dallas Daggett, Jensen Barger, Samuel Barger, and Rylynn Cottrill.

Funeral services for Melvin will be in the funeral home chapel on Monday, October 28, 2024, at 5:00 p.m. with Rev. Kelly Goins officiating. He will be laid to rest in Rhea Memory Gardens next to his wife.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Watts Bar Church of God, 1517 Highway 68 W, Decatur, TN 37322.

The family is being cared for by Vanderwall Funeral Home in Dayton, Tennessee, where they will receive friends Monday, October 28, 2024, after 3:00 p.m. until the time of the service.
