McMinn Wins 5-2 Over Rhea

Cherokees Use 3 Run 4th Inning To Secure Win

Evensville, TN -- 4/7/25

Rhea County High School Baseball hosted McMinn County on Tuesday, 4/7/25.

Rhea County scored runs in the first and second inning to take a 2-1 lead against McMinn, but a big 3-run 4th inning gave the Cherokees a lead they were able to keep for the 5-2 win on Monday night. Rhea had 6 hits on the night and McMinn accumulated 10 hits. There was only 1 error on the night by Rhea County.

Corydon Butler and Bradley Hall each had 2 hits to lead the Eagles. Casen Kinney and Jim Cunningham each scored for Rhea and Butler had an RBI. Alex Latshaw pitched 5 2/3 inning for Eagles as the starter and only gave up 5 hits and 2 runs on the night. Dakota Kilby pitched well in relief with 1 1/3 innings on no hit, no run relief. Latshaw walked 2 and struck out 6 while Kilby struck out 2 hitters.

Marshall Goodner pitched a 7 inning complete game for the win. He gave up 2 unearned runs and 6 hits while striking out 9 and walking 2 batters. Jaser Arms and Auston Fugate each had 2 hits to lead McMinn. Cooper Wilson had 2 RBI and Kade Hyde and Drake Frazier each added an RBI. Fugate led the team with 2 runs scored. Also scoring for McMinn was Jaxen Fugate and Kade Hyde.
