March 18, 1933 ~ January 4, 2025

Mary Gwen Meek Dyer, 91, passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 4, 2025, at Spring City Care and Rehab. Mary was born on March 18, 1933, in Firth, Idaho, and moved to Dayton, Tennessee, at the age of fourteen. She spent her life as a devoted homemaker, lovingly caring for her family, and was a faithful member of the Baptist faith.

Mary was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Norman Dyer; her parents, Russell and Presha Meek; her daughter, Joy Smith; her son, Joe Dyer; and daughters-in-law, Leta and Debbie Dyer; brothers, Dwayne, Garfield, Doyle, and Clifford Meek; her sisters, Marie and Doreen.

She is survived by her son, Jimmy Dyer of Dayton, TN; her daughter, Sherry (David) Creason of Dayton, TN; and son-in-law, Grant Smith of Roanoke, VA. Mary is also survived by her seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. The family extends a special thanks to Hearth Hospice and Spring City Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center for their care and support.

The funeral service will be held on Tuesday, January 7, at 2:00 PM in the chapel of Coulter-Garrison Funeral Home, with Pastor Lane Pennington officiating. The family will receive friends beginning at 12:00 PM until the time of service.

Mary will be remembered for her nurturing spirit, her unwavering faith, and her deep love for her family. Her presence will be missed by all who knew her.

The family has requested donations be made to their favorite church in lieu of flowers.
