Manfred "Fred" H. Wendland, age 91, of Dayton, Tennessee, passed away on November 29, 2024, after a life well-lived in service to God and others. Born on October 27, 1933, in Germany, Fred moved to the United States as a teenager and was a proud United States Army Veteran.
He leaves behind his beloved wife of 47 years, Thelma Kerley Wendland; his children, Manfred Wendland, Randy (Kris) Wendland, and stepson Chad (Brandi) Suttles; his sister; and his grandchildren, Zachary (Stephanie) Wendland, Nicholas (Gabrielle) Wendland, Tara Rhinehart, Ryan (Tiffany) Bishop, Emily (Austin) Murphy, and Chase (Kaitlyn) Suttles. He also had 9 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren. Fred was preceded in death by his parents and stepdaughter, Kathy Bishop.
A celebration of Fred’s life will be held on Sunday, December 1, 2024, at 3:00 PM at The Grove Church in Dayton, Tennessee, with Pastor Eddie Suttles officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:30 PM to 3:00 PM. Fred will be laid to rest at Rhea Memory Gardens following the service.
Fred was a mighty man of God, blessed and highly favored. Fred was anointed with the gift of exhortation, he made everyone feel loved and special. He lived his life serving God and others with excellence. To his family, he was the best ever husband, father and Opa. Fred is one of the greatest men we have ever known and we look forward to seeing him in Heaven someday
