Magdalena Rivera Shurti Obituary

April 23, 1968 - November 30, 2024

Magdalena Shurti, age 56 of Dayton, passed away at Rhea Medical Center on Saturday, November 30, 2024. She was born in Brooklyn, New York, on April 23, 1968, the daughter of the late Abner and Blanca (Rivera) Cardona. She was also preceded in death by her sister, Brunilda Madrigal.

Magdalena moved to Dayton in 2002 from Chicago. She was employed in Dayton as a cook at Waffle House, a caregiver at Rhea of Sunshine, and a clerk at We Care. She loved to dance and cook and was of the Catholic faith.

Magdalena is survived by her sons, Jonathan (Briyonna) Rosa and Xavien Rosa; her brothers, Reynaldo Rivera and Arnel Candelaria; her sisters, Raquel Rivera and Maria Acevedo, all of Dayton; and her nieces and nephews.

Funeral services for Magdalena will be in the funeral home chapel on Wednesday, December 4, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. She will be laid to rest next to her sister in Cranmore Cove Cemetery in Dayton.

The family is being cared for by Vanderwall Funeral Home in Dayton, Tennessee, where they will receive friends on Wednesday, December 4, 2024, from 12:00 noon until the time of the service.
