Madge (Hughey) Smith, age 84 of Dayton, passed away on Tuesday, July 16, 2024, at Rhea Medical Center. She was born in Waverly, TN, on February 5, 1940, the daughter of the late Roy S. Hughey and Hettie (Knight) Hughey. She was also preceded in death by her four siblings, Verdell Hughey, Farris Maynor, Dimple Clifton, and Roy Faxon Hughey.

Madge lived in Dayton most of her life. She was a Rhea Central High School graduate Class of 1957, she was employed at Bryan College for 20 years as a Secretary to the Director of Admissions before being employed in the TVA office at Watts Bar. She was also a member of Dayton Church of Christ.

She is survived by her two sisters, Glema Walker, and Shirley (Charlie) Rector, both of Dayton.

Funeral services for Madge will be held on Tuesday, July 23, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. in the funeral home chapel with her nephew, Jeff Archey officiating. She will be laid to rest at Rhea Memory Gardens where Minister Steve Brown will say a prayer.
