June 16, 1949 ~ February 14, 2025

Lois Ann Thurman Newby, 75, of Rhea County, Tennessee fought a long, hard battle with an illness.  She lost her battle and gained her wings on February 14, 2025.  She was a life long resident of Rhea County but lived in Cleveland, TN for the last 26 years where she also met the love of her life.  She was of the Baptist faith.  She loved puzzles and puzzle books, fishing and especially her son and grandkids.  They were her whole life.

She is preceded in death by her infant son; Raymond Lee Newby, husband; James C. Newby and her parents; Venus and Lillie Gossett Thurman, brothers; Jerry, David and Billy Thurman, all of Rhea County. Sisters; Sarah Green and Brenda Trusley, nieces; Melinda and BJ Clark and nephew; Bobby Trusley. 

Lois is survived by her companion of 25 years; Thomas Wilson, her only son who she loved with all her heart; Alan Newby (Tina Robinson), non biological sons; Michael, Shannon, Lewis and Robert Creasman, sister; Bonnie (Billy) Clark, niece; Barbara Clark and 2 nephews; David and Ricky Trusley,  grandchildren; Christina Newby, Shelby Newby, Mariah Newby Weiss, Elizabeth Newby Weiss, Robert Newby Weiss, Candace (Terry Holmes) Robinson, Cody Robinson, Lance Durham and specials friend Mona Akright of Bradenton, Florida,  Tabitha Cannon,  Sherie Demonbreun, Delilah Freeman, Levi Wykoff,  ex-daughter-in-laws; Christie Jenkins of Rhea County and Charity Newby of Cleveland, TN, several great granddaughters and grandsons and nieces and nephews.  

There will be a funeral service on Friday, February 21, 2025 at 2PM in the chapel of Coulter Garrison Funeral Home with Justin Myers officiating.  The family will receive friends on Thursday February 20, 2025 from 4-9PM.  Interment will be at Stebbins Cemetery. 

Lois was a woman with a heart of gold who will be missed by so many.
