Rhea County Goes 2-1 For Week With Lady Raider Loss on Frriday

Cleveland, TN -- Rhea County Lady Eagle basketball Gets Wins over Ooltewah and Howard before loss to Cleveland. The Lady Eagles began the week with a convincing win over Howard at home before going on the road for two more games for the week. In the second game of the week, Ooltewah proved a tougher contest, but Rhea County won 45-39. On Friday, the Lady Eagles finished the week against Cleveland and hung tough throughout the game but could not close the gap before losing to Cleveland(20-8). Hayla Patton had 44 points for a 14.8 average for the week to lead the Eagles in scoring. Ava Travis scored 30 points for week for a 10 points average. Lakyn Lockhart was third on the team in scoring with 22 points for the week. Lakyn has improved and looks to provide a third consistent scorer for the Eagles. Lady Eagles will be entering a tough portion of the schedule with games against Walker Valley, Bradley Central and McMinn County. Bradley Central is unbeaten this year at 21-0.

The Lady Eagles began well with 13-7 advantage in first quarter, but Lady Owls edged the Lady Eagles 16-14 in second quarter to cut the Rhea County lead to 4 points at the halftime juncture, 27-23. In a low scoring third quarter, Eagles pushed lead to 34-29 on their way to a 45-39 win.

At the midpoint for the first quarter, Lady Eagles, Summer Jenkinss hit a basket to keep Lady Eagles close at 8-7 and a Patton 3 counters a Lady Raider 3 to keep Rhea close with about 3 minutes remaining in quarter at 11-9. Over the next three minutes, Cleveland outscored Rhea County 11-2 to take a 22-11 lead after one quarter.
Milah Williams hit a corner 3 early in second-quarter to push the Lady Raider lead to 25-11, and teams traded 3-point baskets and Rhea cut the Cleveland lead to 30-22 with a Patton 3 at the 3:30 mark of the 2nd quarter. Emma Reeves hit a late basket to cut the lead to 7(35-28) at halftime.
