October 23, 1955 - January 4, 2025

Karen Sue Hughes, age 69 of Dayton, passed away at her home on Saturday, January 4, 2025. She was born in Spring City on October 23, 1955, the daughter of the late Rev. James Wesley Coleman and Sylvia Sue (Dowden) Coleman. She was also preceded in death by her sons, Billy Gene Coleman and Mark Anthony Coleman.

Karen lived in Rhea County since 1970 and was a homemaker. She is survived by her children, Karen “Elaine” Rogers, Randel Cleon Coleman, Anthony (Holly) Sneed, and Rachel Ann Brady, all of Dayton; more than 30 grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and her siblings, Cynthia Darlene Bisinger, Angela Beth Witt, and Bobby Shane Coleman, all of Georgia.

Mom was a beautiful spirit and was full of love and forgiveness. She was loved by people far and wide. She was a friend to all, a great mother, and an angel grandmother.

A graveside funeral service for Karen will be on Tuesday, January 7, 2025, at Buttram Cemetery at 1:00 p.m. with Rev. Audie May officiating.
