Jewel Strickland age 90 of Spring City, Tennessee died on Wednesday, April 9, 2025 at her residence.
She was born on June 17, 1934 to the late Herman and Eulah Coates Trout and was a longtime resident of the area. Jewel attended school in Gallatin, Tennessee. She and her late husband Lamar Strickland owned and operated Strickland Upholstery since 1960 and were dairy farmers for 35 years. Jewel loved her flowers and enjoyed keeping the birds fed. She was a member of Wolf Creek Baptist Church.
Jewel is preceded in death by her son Randy Lee “Rooster” Strickland, her brothers Ray, Carl, Charles, and Harold “Junior” Trout, her sister Sue Devore, and her grandson Johnathan Vandell Strickland.
Survivors include her son Mark Strickland of Spring City, Tennessee; her daughter Cathy (Mike) Smith of Spring City, Tennessee; her adopted daughter Lola Agius of Howell, Michigan; her brother Lewis Trout of Hartsville, Tennessee; her grandchildren Justin (Chasity) Whitted of Dayton, Tennessee and Rhonda (Sean) Thomas of Athens, Tennessee; and her great grandson Bryson Whitted of Dayton, Tennessee.
The family would like to give a special thanks to Belinda Hill for the special care she gave Jewel.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, April 12, 2025 at 3:00 P.M. in the Chapel of Vaughn Funeral Home with Rev. Paul Forgey officiating. Interment will follow in the Spring City Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends on Saturday, April 12, 2025 from 1:00 P.M. to 3:00 P.M. at Vaughn Funeral Home.
