Jerry Lebron Lacy, age 76, of South Pittsburg, Tennessee passed peacefully in his sleep just before the snow began to fall on January 10, 2025.
He grew up in Bryant, Alabama, the son of John and Marie (Grant) Lacy.
He graduated from North Sand Mountain High School.
In 1968 he married his one true love, Emma “Bunny” Hawk. Together he and Bunny raised three children, Lebron, Brandon, and Amanda in South Pittsburg, Tennessee.
Jerry served in the Unites States Army during the Vietnam War.
His early career was Foreman of a grain elevator at Cargill, a flour milling company in Chattanooga. Jerry later worked at Lodge Manufacturing and Royal Re-manufacturing, both in South Pittsburg.
He was a longtime member of the Church of Christ in Kimball, Tennessee where he loved to sing in his rumbling bass voice.
Jerry’s hobbies through the years were playing softball in the church league, playing golf, deer hunting, playing outside with his grandkids, growing a big garden, and watching Gunsmoke on TV.
Jerry will be remembered by his easy laugh, his kindness, and his generosity.
Surviving him to honor his memory are Bunny, his wife of 56 years, son Brandon (Dara) Lacy, daughter Amanda (Benton) Jones, dtr-in-law Margaret Lacy; grandchildren Alexander Lacy, Zachary Lacy, Jacob (Ashley) Jones, Ethan (Lydia) Jones, Allie (Lucas) Weeks, Emma Jones, William Lacy, Bennett Lacy, Heather (Shawn) Lawrence, Chris (Kailee) Moore
great-grandchildren John Jones, Caroline Jones, Elizabeth Jones, and Eloise Jones; brother Ardeen Lacy, sister Joyce Tinker Atkins and many nephews, nieces and cousins.
In God’s time, his loved ones awaiting him with open arms will be his son Lebron Lacy, parents John and Marie Lacy, and brother JL Lacy.
Special thanks to Richard Martin and Shannon Duggar for their dedication in helping Jerry live at home the last two years. Thanks to Gentiva Hospice staff for their caregiving in his last days.
Memorial services with military honors will be held on Saturday, January 18, 2025 at 1:00 PM CST, Kimball Church of Christ, led by John Lofty and William Watkins.
The family will receive friends one hour before services.
