James “Cotton” England age 83 of Decatur, Tennessee died on Sunday, February 2, 2025 at U.T. Medical Center in Knoxville.
He was born on January 29, 1942 to the late Fain and Carrie CissonEngland and was a lifetime resident of the area. James attended school in Meigs County. He spent his whole working career in construction and was a lifetime member of Local #384 – Knoxville. James loved working in his yard and also enjoyed fishing. He never met a stranger and was known as “Papaw Tot Tot” to his grandchildren. James attended Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Spring City.
James is also preceded in death by his daughter Angela Fay Yates, his stepson Robbie Beard, his brothers Frank and Kenneth England, his sister Opal England Enix, and his infant sister Joyce Ann England.
Survivors include his wife Judy Howell England of Decatur, Tennessee; his children Tim (Mary) England and Cindy (Barry) Galyon both of Ten Mile, Tennessee; his stepson Shawn (Amy) Crawley of Decatur, Tennessee; his brothers Bill (Wilma) England and Mike (Robin) England both of Ten Mile, Tennessee, Jerry (Debbie) England of Decatur, Tennessee, and James (Sylvia) Peevely of Jacksonville, Florida; his sisters JoAnn Reed, Peggy Hixson, and Libby (Larry) Douglas all of Ten Mile, Tennessee; his seven grandchildren, eight great grandchildren, 1 great-great grandchild, and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, February 6, 2025 at 1:00 P.M. in the Chapel of Vaughn Funeral Home with Rev. Lawrence Waller officiating. Interment will follow in Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Ten Mile, Tennessee. The family will receive friends on Thursday, February 6, 2025 from 11:00 A.M. to 1:00 P.M. at Vaughn Funeral Home.
