Kyle Carr headed to Tennessee Tech to play football
March 2020
Evensville, TN -- Rhea County High School senior Kyler Carr recently signed papers to attend Tennessee Tech and will be a preferred walk-on for the football team. Kyle played quarterback at Rhea County High School and led the school to the playoffs this year. Kyle plans on majoring in Mechanical Engineering. Kyle is son of Chad and Kelly Carr, and big brother to Caleb Carr.
Kyle singed on the same day as three of his teammates, Bradley Goodwin, Jacob Stringfield and Jackson Langley in a big signing day at Rhea County High School.
I had a chance to ask Kyle a few questions about his football and school career.
Tell us a little about your football background.
I started playing football when I was five years old for the Spring City Reddogs and have been on the football field ever since.
What other sports have you played?
I have played basketball, baseball, and track.
What has been your favorite subject in school?
I’ve always been a Mathlete. I love math.
What are your interests outside of football?
I like to be out on the lake during the summer, boating, tubing, and fishing. I have played the guitar since 3rd grade.
I asked Kyle which professional football team he would want to play for and who his all-time favorite football player is or was?
Kyle said, " I have been a fan of the Cincinnati Bengals my entire life. If I got the opportunity, I would try to turn things around for them."
"My favorite football player of all time is Joe Montana." Joe is also on my list. Difference is I actually saw him play live. Joe is one of the best ever, and a proven winner.
Who was your favorite teacher through your years in school?
"My favorite teacher would have to be my 8th grade History teacher, Mr. Justin Roberson at Spring City Middle School. He made learning interesting and fun."
Asked about a teammate who was strong, Kyle responded.
"The strongest teammate in my opinion would be Taylor Cowley because he overcame the struggles of a crippling car accident and played an entire season with a metal rod in his leg."
What will you miss most when your high school days are done?
"I will miss everything about Rhea County football, from the tough spring practices to the Friday night lights, and from all the summer workouts to the fans that had our backs, no matter if we won or lost."
