Geraldine Varner age 89 of Soddy Daisy, Tennessee died on Saturday, December 7, 2024 at CHI Memorial in Chattanooga.

She was born on May, 5, 1935 to the late Howard and Maude Rector Fugate Sr. and was a lifetime resident of the area. Geraldine attended Rhea Central High School. She then worked at Robinson Manufacturing and DuPont. Geraldine enjoyed sewing, baking, gardening, and shopping. She was a member of New Salem Baptist Church in Soddy Daisy.

Geraldine is also preceded in death by her brothers Howard “Junior” Fugate Jr. and Kenneth Fugate, and her sisters Yetive Hill and Leta Fugate McDowell.

Survivors include her daughter Tina (Chris) Kirklen of Soddy Daisy, Tennessee; her brother Leonard (Jane) Fugate of Evensville, Tennessee; her sisters Thelma Jean Reeves of Ooltewah, Tennessee and Dereetsa (Kelso) Roberts of Dayton, Tennessee; and her two grandchildren Jordan Kirklen and Jessica Kirklen. 

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, December 11, 2024 at 2:00 P.M. in the Chapel of Vaughn Funeral Home with Rev. Aaron Revis officiating. Interment will follow in the Spring City Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, December 11, 2024 from 12:00 P.M. to 2:00 P.M. at Vaughn Funeral Home.
