Franklin Leon Jordan, age 64, of Dayton, Tennessee, passed away at home on August 23, 2025, after a courageous battle with cancer.
Franklin was born on June 28, 1961, to Jackie Leon Jordan and Velma Poteet. A lifelong resident of Rhea County, he was of the Baptist faith. He worked for over 25 years at Industrial Plating Company in Chattanooga. Franklin was known for his friendly and likeable nature, and he had a deep love for the outdoors, cars, and tinkering with just about anything he could get his hands on.
He was preceded in death by his father, Jackie Leon Jordan; stepfather, Kenneth Lloyd Poteet; grandparents Jesse P. and Mary Lena Hill Smith, Lige and Mildred Jordan, and Woodrow and Hattie Poteet; as well as his uncle’s Norman, Jessie Max and Bobby Dewight Smith.
Franklin is survived by his mother, Velma Dorislen Smith Poteet; sisters Cheryl Lynn Jordan, Rhonda Jean Rogers, and Mary Katherine Wolfe; brother Jerry Max Jordan; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins who will miss him dearly.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday August 27, 2025 at 11:00 AM, in the Chapel of Coulter Garrison Funeral Home with Bro Clyde Fitzgerald officiating. The family will receive friends from 10:00 AM until the time of service. He will be laid to rest in Rhea Memory Gardens in Dayton, Tennessee.
