Emma Lee Standifer Obituary

August 25, 1939 - January 7, 2025

Emma Lee Standifer, age 85 of Dayton, passed away at Life Care of Rhea County on Tuesday, January 7, 2025. She was born in Wheel-Wright, KY, on August 25, 1939, the daughter of the late Harvey and Arvie (Goins) Hamby. She is also preceded in death by her husband, Jerry “Jug” Standifer; her brothers, Howard Hamby, Homer Hamby, Eugene Hamby and Bobby Hamby; and her sister, Lilly Shelton.

Emma lived in Cleveland, TN, before moving to Dayton in 2002. She was employed as a sewer at J.H. Kellman in Cleveland. She loved canning, making candy and baking. She was previously a member of Hopewell Church of God and a current member of Dayton Church of God.

Emma is survived by her daughter, Janet (Chris) Redden of Soddy-Daisy; her two brothers, Bill Hamby of Dayton, and Larry (Vicki) Hamby of Soddy-Daisy; her three sisters, Mary Webb and Bernice Henderson, both of Dayton, and Dora Lester of Mansfield, OH; her two grandchildren, Brandy (Michael) Wilson of Chattanooga, and Misty (Chris) Powell of Soddy-Daisy; her four great-grandchildren, Lauren Wilson, Jared (Heather) Wilson, Blake Powell and Brady Powell; and her two great-great-grandchildren, Allison-Louise Wilson and Audrey-Grace Wilson.

Funeral services for Emma will be in the funeral home chapel Thursday, January 9, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Jared Wilson and Pastor Jeff Page officiating. She will be laid to rest next to her husband at Rhea Memory Gardens.

The family is being cared for by Vanderwall Funeral Home in Dayton, Tennessee, where they will receive friends on Wednesday, January 8, 2025, from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.
