Eagles go 4-1 at "Battle at the Creek" Tourney in Sale Creek
Sale Creek, TN -- Rhea County High School basketball finsihed in third place at the "Battle at the Creek" basketball tournament in Sale Creek held December 16-20, 2022. During the tournament, the Eagles won games against Grundy, Chattanooga Patriots, Tennessee Christian Prep and Collegedale and lost to Chattanoog Prep in a close game 59-55.
In the first game of the tournament the Eagles won 82-46 over Tennessee Christian Prep in a rematch, as they had played at TCPS earlier in the month. Four Eagles hit double figures in the win, with Sean Norman leading all scorers with 18 points. Close behind was Bryce Dupre with 17 points. Also scoring in double figures were Caleb Carr and Alex Housley with 14 and 10 points respectively.
In the second game of the tournament, the Eagle rode the shooting of Bryce Dupre with 23 points to the close 53-49 win. Zach Howard and Landon Stewart with 8 and 6 points respectively.
Next up for the Eagles was Grundy County and the Eagles won 69-31. The Eagles were very consistent in the game with double figure scoring in every quarter as they took a 19-9 lead in the first quarter and led the entire game. Caleb Carr and Hank Logsdon led the Eagles with 11 and 10 points respectively.
Eagles took their only loss of the tournament against Chattanooga Prep 59-55. Zach Howard led the Eagles with 16 points and Carr and Housley each added 9 points as top scorers for Rhea County. This was a close game throughout, Eagles had their chances, but Chattanooga prevailed.
The loss in the pool play division put the Eagles into consolation game against Collegedale Academy. The Eagles won this game 68-46. Bryce Dupre and Braylon Geer led the Eagles with 21 and 17 points.
