Dwane Edwin Ferren Obituary

February 7, 1947 - January 3, 2025

Dwane Edwin Ferren Sr. age 77 of Spring City, Tennessee died on Friday, January 3, 2025 at CHI Memorial Hospital in Chattanooga.

He was born on February 7, 1947 in Searcy, Arkansas to the late Willard and Nancy Pauline Prince Ferren and has lived in this area since 1997 after moving from Kokomo, Indiana. Dwane was a graduate of Northwestern High School in Howard County, Indiana, “Class of 1965”. While he was working at General Motors, he was drafted to serve in the United States Army. When Dwane returned from his service, he continued his working career at General Motors and retired after 30 years. Dwane was a member of First Baptist Church in Spring City and served as a Deacon there. He loved woodworking, golfing, and fishing.

Dwane is preceded in death by his brothers Harold and Jarrel Ferren, and his sister Winnie Cathrene Grey.

Survivors include his wife Shirley Ferren of Spring City, Tennessee; his children Dwane (Jamie) Ferren Jr. of Indianapolis, Indiana, Douglas Ferren of Marion, Indiana, Karen Monday and Alisa Jackson both of Spring City, Tennessee; his brothers Kenny Ferren, Arwood (Mae) Ferrin, and Paul (Lois) Ferren all of Kokomo, Indiana; his sister Teresa Ferren of Kokomo, Indiana; his eleven grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, January 10, 2025 at 2:00 P.M. in the Chapel of Vaughn Funeral Home with Rev. Dennis Davidson and Rev. Brian Price officiating. The family will receive friends on Friday, January 10, 2025 from 12:00 P.M. to 2:00 P.M. at Vaughn Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial donations be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital at www.stjude.org/donate/ in his memory.
