Sweatbees Defeat Wartburg to Earn Spot Vs Oliver Spirngs

Wartburg, TN -- Dayton City football traveled to Wartburg, Tennessee to open the 2021 football playoffs. Dayton City received the kickoff and drove downfield with big runs by Rylin Suttles and Parker Kauffman highlighting the drive. Sweatbees scored on a short touchdown pass from Bryce Garrison to Noah Edwards. Suttles tacked on two points with conversion run with around 3 minutes remaining in second quarter.

Bulldogs were moving the ball on their first possession cut Jacob Martinez put a halt to the drive with nice interception and return to setup Dayton for second possession with 54 seconds left in first quarter. DCS was forced to punt and Bulldogs took over on the 46 of Dayton. Dayton stopped the Bulldogs on fourth down try and were setup around the 30 yard line. Bulldogs stopped the Sweatbees at the 48 on turnover on downs. Sweatbee held the Bulldogs and half expired with DCS leading 8-0.

Bulldogs received the second half kickoff. They put a nice drive together moving down the field and aided by a couple of big penalties moved deep into Sweatbee territory. Finally the big running back Hutingson found his way into end zone with the third quarter almost over. Two point conversion pass was short and DCS 8-6 lead.

Dayton received short kick and Shelfter brought ball past the 35 yard line. Suttles had nice run to midfield area. During the drive, the third quarter expired. Suttles had a big run down to the Bulldog 4 yard line and he then carried ball into end-zone for the insurance touchdown. Two point conversion pass was short and with 7:40, DCS led 14-6.

Wartburg moved past midfield but were unable to get anything going. On it's next possession, it was Rylin Suttles with the 46 yard touchdown run. Michael Ray was successful on the 2-point conversion run for 22-6 lead for Eagles with 4:58 left in game.

Bulldogs were driving on next possession but Eli Mickel stopped the drive with an interception around the 40 yard line. On the DCS drive, Parker Kauffman had a nice run to near midfield. Game ended with Sweatbees moving on to play Oliver Springs on Thursday, October 21, 201 in Oliver Spirngs with a 7 pm kickoff.
