Sweatbees Run Record to 3-0, Travel to Oneida Next

Rockwood, TN -- Dayton City School(DCS) traveled to Rockwood and won 52-6 on Thursday, August 31, 2019. Sweatbees were looking for payback after losing 28-6 to Rockwood last year.
Dayton City stopped Rockwood on three downs and Bryce Dupre took the punt and rambled down the left sideline for 55 yards and a touchdown. Two point conversion was no good and Bees led 6-0 with just over five minutes left in first quarter.
On the next series it was again a three play series with tackles by Pendergrass and Moreno. Ethan Davis had what appeared to be second touchdown, but penalty nullified the touchdwon and put ball at the 25, where Rex Pendergrass ran for first down to the 11 yard line before Dupre rolled out around left end for the touchdown. Rex Pendergrass added two point conversion for the 14-0 lead and that remained the score at quarter's end.
The Tigers third possession was returned to their own 32 yard line. Bees held to force a punt that Ethan Davis took in at the Bee 39 yard line and returned to the Tiger end zone to push the score to 20-0. Conversion was no good.
Christian Moreno's short kick was returned to midfield. Pendergrass and Davis teamed up for three stops before McClain found a crease in the line and scored on a 43 yard run. Two pooint conversion was no good for Tigers and DCS now led 20-6.
Sweatbees began play at the 50 yard line after penalty on kicoff. On second play of drive, Ethan Davis had the 45 yard run to push the DCS lead to 28 -6 after the Rex Pendergras run for two point conversion.
After short kick the Tigers had good field position at their 35 yard line. Pendergrass had stop for loss on two plays and forced a 4th and long situation. Ethan Davis took the punt and raced 61 yards for the Sweatbee touchdown. Conversion pass fell short and score remained 28-6,
Moreno kicked off and Tigers setup shop at the 49 yard line. Bees got the ball back and Davis has nice run to move the ball to the 19 yard line and Pendergrass hit Davis in stride for another touchdown and scored was 34-6 with 17 seconds remaining. After conversion score went to 36-6 and remined 36-6 halftime.
Dayton received the onside kickoff and kept possession at their own 49 yard line. An apparent touchdown on Ethan Davis sensational run was called back because of personal foul penalty that set the ball back to 33 yard line. Ace Robinson follwed Davis's touchdown with an even longer one of 67 yards and he also was victim of penalty and DCS was pushed back to 23 yard line, and then to 18 after a loss. Finally Rex Pendergrass scored the third touchdown of the possession and the only one to count on an 82 yard touchdown run. Pendergrass added the conversion run to make the score 44-6 with 5:38 left in third quarter.
Ace Robinson added a long touchdown run and Pendergrasses added conversion with 3:47 to give Bees 52-6 win and that score ended up as final score.

Ethan Davis 4 rushes 63 yards, Rex Pendergrass 7 rushes for 113 yards, Bryce Dupre 1 rush for 11 yards, Ace Robinson 2 rushes for 49 yards, and Martinez 1 rush for 3 yards for total of 239 yards. Bryce Dupre went 1 for 3 passing with 24 yard pass to Ethan Davis for a touchdown. Bryce Dupre and Ethan Davis had punt returns for touchdodwns of 52 and 61 yards.
Tackles/Assists for the game: Sam Stumbo 2, Dupree 1/1, Pendergrass 5/1, Dawson Mickel 4, McClendon 1, Robinson1, Davis 9, Emmanuel Martinez 2/1, Moreno 3 and Luke Henry 2. Pendergrass has 2 tackles for loss and Davis had 1 tackle for loss.

"We don’t know much about Oneida. Heard they had a new coach. We are working this week to prepare with what we do know, and we hope our guys will play as hard as the last game. It’s a long trip but we are excited and ready to play. Oneida is always tough and it’s a great program. They are defending Champions, so will see what happens Thursday."
DCS next stays on the road with a long trip to Oneida to play very good program. DCS will keep fresh in their mind their 30-22 loss last year at home as Oneida put together a late drive to win in a very exciting game. You can see highlight of that game below.
