DCS Wins 38-0 Over Oakdale
Dayton, TN -- Dayton City School football will travel to Rockwood on Thursday for football with 7 pm kickoff. DCS will attempt to keep their record unblemished after two impressive wins to open the season.
Last Thursday, the Bees traveled to Oakdale and won 46-0 in a game that they led 38-0 at the half. Rex Pendergrass led the defense and Oakdale turned the ball over on downs to DCS at Oakdale 34 yard line. Ethan Davis scored first touchdown and two point conversion for the 8-0 lead early for the Bees. The quarter ended with DCS up 8--0.
On Oakdale's second possession, Bryce Dupre stepped in from of the receiver and returned interception 43 yards for Dayton's second touchdown, but point after was incomplete and DCS settled for 14-0 lead early in second quarter. Dupre duplicated that on the next possession but added 6 yards on a 49 yard interception return for touchdown to push the margin to 20-0 and Pendergrass scored conversion to run score to 22-0 with 6:40 left in second quarter.
Bryce Dupre kicked his second kick of the evening into the end zone to setup Eagles at the 20 yard line. McClendon had a tackle for loss to force the Eagles to punt from the 27 yard line but ball sailed over the kickers head and setup Sweat Bees at the Oakdale two yard line. Only took one play for Davis to score the fourth touchdown for the Bees. Pendergrass conversion run put score at 30-0.
Oakdale began next series on 38 yard line. McClendon, Henry, Davis and Moreno each had tackles in series and forced a tournover-on-downs for the Eagles at their own 45 yard line. On next play Bryce Dupre rolled out and hit Rex Pendergrass for the touchdown pass of 45 yards. Martinez tacked on the conversion run for 38-0 lead with less than a minute left in half and score remained 38-0 at half.
Second half brought the rain and a running clock. Ace Robinson had a long run of twenty plus yards for the final touchdown. Successful conversion made the final score 46-0.
On the night, the Bees had 135 yards rushing and 45 yards passing. On defense Grimes and Davis each led the team with three tackles. Several players had two tackles, including Stumbo, Pendergrass, McClendon, and Robinson. Luke Henry led with assisted tackles with three and Pendergrass and Robinson each tallied two.
