Large crowd attends the activity filled festival
September 13, 2019
Dayton, TN -- On Friday the 13th, things were not unlucky for those who attended the Dayton City School Fall Festival. The festival attracted a large number of parents, children and other community members for the activity filled event.
The Fall Festival was sponsored by PTO(Parent Teacher Organization) and organized and run by the DCS faculty and staff. It was a free event for all DCS families. The DCS Special Events committee, with assistance from PTO, helped organize the event while grade level teachers/staff and special area teachers/staff sponsored all game booths. PTO supplied gift bags to all children as they left the event to enjoy at home.
Activities included corn cob tossing, bean bag tic tac toe with hula hoops, dunk tank, pumpkin putt putt golf, bowling, musical chairs and many more. There was also free food and drinks.
The crowd continued to flow all night long. They even braved the heat outside for a lot of the activities. Principle Chris Talent was a favorite target of the softball tossers as they looked to coool off Chris at the dunk tank. With Rhea County Football off for the night, nobody had to stay home and be bored.
Linda Abel was at festival continuing to spread the word about Imagination Library and to sign up children up for the program. Free books from birth until fifth birthday is pretty nice. She also was letting people know about the big Imagination Library Celebration at Clyde W. Roddy Library on Wednesday from 9 am until 12 pm.
Not to be lost in the night is the Parent Teacher Organization that had a place for people to sign up for PTO. This is a very important school related organization and like most, it needs you, the parent, grandparent or community member with a volunteer spirit.
