Bees Win 51-27 Over Athens Middle

Lenoir City, TN -- Dayton City opened their district tournament at Lenoir City Middle School with 51-27 win over Athens Middle School on Monday night to advance to Semi-finals against North Middle, the winner over Lenoir City on Tuesday night. Game time will be at 5;45 at Lenoir City Middle School. With the win, the Sweatbees run their season record to 18-3.
Dayton came out hot with Dawson Mickel and Tyler Akin hitting early baskets as Bees run out to 10-1 lead early and had a 6 point lead at 13-6 with three minutes left in the first quarter. Athens then responded with 8-0 run to end the quarter with 14-13 lead. DCS ratcheted up the defense and held Athens scoreless to take a 24-14 halftime lead. Dayton City enjoyed a double digit lead the rest of the game with 11-8 in third and 16-5 advantage in the fourth for the final 51-27 score. Bryce Dupre led the team with 22 points and Kyler Akin joined Bryce in double figures with 11 points. Dayton City played very nice game with great energy on the defensive end of the court and good sharing of the ball on the offensive end of the court.
Scoring for Dayton: Dupre 22, Akin 11, Ross Pendergrass 7, Mickel 5, Ethan Davis 4, Morgan 2. Hunter McDonald led Athens with 12 points.
