Carl Eugene “Gene” Holden Obituary

Carl Eugene “Gene” Holden, age 91 of Laurel, Maryland, passed away at Baltimore VA Medical Center in Baltimore, Maryland, on Wednesday, September 18, 2024. He was born in Dayton, Tennessee, on August 16, 1933, the son of the late James Wendell Holden and Viola (Holland) Holden. He was also preceded in death by his granddaughter, Lacie Holden.

Gene was born and raised in Dayton and lived in Laurel, Maryland, since 1963. He traveled the world with the US Navy and retired as a building manager for the federal government. He was an avid golfer, was a 32nd Mason, was Master of Laurel Masonic Lodge in 1980, and was a Shriner. He was of the Baptist faith.

Gene is survived by his wife of 49 years, Teena Paulette (Duncan) Holden of Laurel, Maryland; his children, Randy Holden, Lee Ann (Tim Forsythe) Bishop, and Andy (Patty Coleman) Holden, all of Dayton; his sister, Elizabeth Owens of Dayton; his grandchildren, Jessica Schweitzer, Lindie Loher, Frank Boeckmann, Michael Cave, Tana Bishop, and Shannon Holden; his 20 great-grandchildren; and his three great-great-grandchildren.

A private family visitation and graveside service will be on Tuesday, September 24, 2024. He will be laid to rest at Rhea Memory Gardens with Navy military honors.
